Found these jerseys in my shed cleanup this week.....Reminded me of the Stinger,s trip to Dundee Scotland in 1980 to play in the first ever BRITISH EMPIRE CUP.......It was one of the highlight european trips we made over the years with the Stingers......We were invited to represent Canada and all expenses were paid by the our Scottish hosts.......They had to sneak the money to us because Bunny Ahearne, the Pres of the British Ice Hockey Federation refused to sanction the finances........The other problem was the tourney  was a month after our season was over and we had no ice for practices ......I had to make a rule that all players were to come to dryland workouts 5 days a week or they would not be allowed to make the trip......We had 100% attendance and the team was able to maintain good condition for the trip..In the championship final...We beat the Dutch Team  , made up of many players from there Olympic team......We were luckey to have a great goaltender named Grant McNichol and some outstanding players like Doug Feasby, Gilles Hebert  ,Michel Blais, Mike Walker and Roy Halpin.......Feasby will be inducted into the wall of fame this june and Hebert , Walker and Blais have already been inducted....One thing i regret was  not playing a round of golf at the historic course at ST ANDREWS.......We were only allowed a few spots and they were filled quickly...Many of the players from Concordia were offered the chance to play in the British league after that trip.....and Frank Morris brother of HALL OF FAMER Don Morris became one of the  great stars of the league...jerseys2

mr spudinSpring is taking it,s time to hit the ISLAND this year.....The golf club opened on fri but the cold weather discouraged yours truly from playing more then the front nine.....Meanwhile Tim,s Motley crew is down to bare bones these days....We may be forced to relocate to recruit some new "Unusual Suspects". However ,Homer has applied for compensation from the Department of Vets......Apparently, He had a cup of coffee at camp Gagetown when they sprayed "AGENT ORANGE" He,s blaming that for making him so grumpie and basically ruining his chance for a movie career. In addition he,s asked the conservative party of PEI ,led by his best buddy PAT BINNS,if they would supply funds for his research into "How hiccups can be cured with a finger up the rectum??? Nice!!!!!!...Not to be outdone....BARNEY  "cousin Andy" has decided to study the woodpeckers in his yard and gather info on why they never get headaches????Well sounds like a great summer ....maybe i,ll have to start relocating squirrels again .And we,re all looking forward to drinking beer from cans since the ban will be lifted soon....wow...what a thrill!!!!
