A NITE TO REMEMBER WITH JOE COOL AND WHO,S YOUR DADDY?????
We hit the local pub sat and enjoyed some highly entertaining performances from Jack, Porkchop "I,m just a truckdriver from Ohio" Gene,Gene" the singin machine" and JOE COOL who brought the house down with his rendition of Toby Keith,s "WHO,S YOUR DADDY" Goes something like ......"WHO,S YOUR DADDY, WHO,S YOUR BABY?WHO,S YOUR BUDDY? WHO,S YOUR FRIEND..........I GOT THE MONEY,IF YOU GOT THE HONEY.........YOU KNOW I GOT IT SO COME AND GET IT!.......you had to be there!!!!Won,t be long now till we hit the road for the long trip back........And ,i hear it,s getting warmer......Perhaps even Golf ing soon???????
Went up to San Antonio with Team PEI and got to see the Alamo.......Shrine to all Texans where Davy Crokett ,Jim Bowie and Col Travis with 200 men held off 2000 Mexican soldiers for Texas independance.....The ALAMO is situated in the middle of the city but no building can be built high enough to shade this heroic site.......When you enter you have to remove your hat and a sign tells you to shut up!!!!!I didn,t see the sign?????John Wayne played Davy Crockett in the 1960 movie and i can,t wait to watch it...Also a new one made in 2004 starring Billy Bob Thornton...This picture was taken across the street and bears no resemblance to Davy ......
Got word today of the passing of DR.Ed Enos the former director of athletics and physical education at Loyola and Concordia in Montreal. I worked with Ed for almost 20 yrs ........He came to montreal as a football player with the CFL....Had this huge painting behind his desk with the caption "MR 2ND EFFORT"....He initiated the bio physical education program at Loyola and also an International Sports program called "The institute of Comparitive Physical Education.......We had our differances.....mainly because ,we felt," the coaches," that he neglected his duties as Athletic Director to concentrate on his many other higher profile activities........But, much of the problem was that their was little accountability for the Athletic Director at Loyola and Concordia.......A problem ,i think, that exists today at many universities in Canada. It wouldn,t happen in an academic department!..Of course, the coaches were always held accountable ....weekly.......according to our won ,lost records.....Ed initiated the first ever trip to Russia to study the Soviet sports system.in 1974....and i got a chance to participate as the head of the hockey delegation which included several pro coaches including Fred Shero of the Flyers.....It was a great learning experience and the first time i'd ever heard about blood doping......It was shortly after the summit series between the NHL and Russian all stars and Moscow was still buzzing ....Everywhere we went ,when people knew we were canadians they yelled .........ESPOSITO......,ESPOSITO!!!!! . They were quite taken with Captain Phil...From that trip i learned about a stretching technique..called "proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation" from Pierre Page the coach of Dalhousie Univ who went on to coach in the NHL.....When i returned to Loyola i was teaching it to my team when Ed spotted it........It wasn,t long before he contacted the Montreal Expos and convinced them to incorporate the program into their training regime........With Ed as their fitness advisor.!.......One day i went into Ed,s office and had a loud heated discussion about his lack of support.....It went "Ed you spend more effort with Gary Carter and the Expos then you do Around here"!!! Little did i know that Gary Carter was waiting outside where he could hear everything!!!!!!!Needless to say, i didn,t ask him for any freebies. I,m sorry to hear of his death and i,ll say a prayer for his soul.....As a major player in the sports scene in Montreal for 30 years , someone should write a book about "MR 2ND EFFORT". His funeral should be well attended in Beaconsfield Sat...God Bless.. *****Picture of Phil Esposito when he came to visit our team in Milan Italia
.
Well my little friends....It,s been some time since i have posted.a note or two, Where am i ? I,m in Texas trying to find THE ALAMO or THE RIO GRANDE or Tombstone.....No ,That,s in Arizona!!!!!! I,ve been across the continent 4000 miles in my BAJA........4days to Colorado Springs where the famous, former coach of the SIR GEORGE WILLIAMS GEORGIAN BASKETBALL TEAM lives......Freddy, "Mr Baseball "Whitacre and pixie wife Mary anne.......Left Sir George to become an even more famous baseball administrator....Now hanging out at the Ritz when he,s not drinking coffee in Paris.......Then to South Padre Island with all the spring breakers.....And several trips across the RIO GRANDE to MEXICO for fine food ,Margaritas and to be fleesed by Mexican con men selling fake silver and knockoffs.....Cousin Andy is gettin lonely back at Tim,s in Charlottetown.....and insists that i get back to action on this page....However ,Where are the Motly crew led by Homer and Former Pres Jumpin jim.?Where is Big Eddy ? and PEI,S FAVORITE PRISON GUARD EASY EV??????Well my sweets take care of yourself until i return to the muddy april scene on our beloved Island.
.. And isn,t it amazing what you can learn from travel .....Did you know that Margarita's,Natcho's,and Burrito's are not Mexican??You did!! I thought so!!!!!
