Who ownes the chiefs??? Remember that classic line  from the movie SLAP SHOT!!!! Well we,re saying the same thing in summerside where the ICE FOX ,my semi pro team are without an owner.........The league has taken over the team because they can,t afford to let us fold.......With only 4 teams they need us to continue playing....We managed to pay the players last week but now after 4 games it,s crunch time and tomorrow night at practice the players will expect me to have the MONEY.!!! The commisioner was in the dressing room after our game on sat and said a group had agreed to buy the chiefs/ fox!!!! They were to meet with summerside officials today to work out a better lease then was offered before......So, guess i,ll know tomorrow if i still have a job.......Sofar the squad has racked up an impressive record.....4 wins and 2 losses put us in 2nd place and we,ll get better soon.........St John have beaten us twice ....They have a good squad but we,ll get to them soon.....The games have been good but except for the first home game attendance has been small.....Guess we have to build a reputation but anyone who knows anything about hockey can see the calibre is superior to junior or university......Once rivalries get developed it,ll get even better and i expect another 2 teams will join the league next season........My neighbours have been up to a game but the Tim Horton,s boys have failed to show sofar......Roger the runt is afraid that i,ll shun him again.and Homer is too busy going to the New London community centre for the greasy...all you can eat....get to the funeral sooner ...breakfast!!!! It,s on from 10 am to 2 pm and word is Homer was there for the full 4 hours!!!

After three weeks of practices and management turmoil the ICE FOX finally hit the ice on sat nite.......We didn,t know what to expect ....Would the fans support us??? Would we have uniforms? Would the folks enjoy the game?Well the answers were all yes!!!! We had over 1000 at the game.....our uniforms were sharp thanks to Dusty Carrol of Moncton and people seemed to enjoy the brand of hockey.....We did lose but we can handle that.....ST John scored 5 goals on power plays .....Not having any exhibitions and the fact that many of our guys have been playing Rec hockey the last few years ,i think were factors and will be things we,ll have to overcome in the initial stages of our team......However we didn,t play badly.......I think the highlight of the nite was our captain FORBIE MACPHERSON making a  great play near the end of the game to score.....It gave us a more positive feeling going into the room after the loss......And...guess what ! With very little sleep and a long bus ride to CAPE BRETON on sunday.......We won!!!!!!3 to zip......Not too shabby, especially since they had outscored the Dartmouth team 5-3 the previous evening.......And it was great to see a lot of my friends at the game on sat....It was a real family affair with my brother,sister in law ,niece, and nephew selling 50-50 tickets at the game....The winner won almost 1000 bucks so they did a great job....And now for the "REST OF THE STORY"...Cousin Shane is thinking of suing Sears after receiving a burn on his hand.....His new stove didn,t have a warning that it would get " so hot"!!!! Can you believe it? He better come out to practice and we,ll shoot pucks at his head!!! And did you think that because gas prices on PEI are regulated that we had the lowest prices in the MARITIMES?...Guess what? We don,t......So the regulations only help the service stations!!!!!

A beautiful sunday here on the fair isle of PE........and we are preparing for our third week at the helm of the ICE FOX SUMMERSIDE hockey club.......Pres jim phoned in with a potential player " fighter" for our club.....However it was learned that the aforementioned was incarcerated at sleepy hollow facility with our cohort in crime Ev ' mr hockey " Toombs......And my darling Rockettes hockey club is preparing for the 2nd year .....Hopefully the girls are in good shape for our 1st practice .....I,ll have to do a complete physical to confirm they are ready for some tough practices.. forget it Shane ...i don,t need an assistant..!...And the sweet Helen is still in France....I have sent a request to her to sample the new milk beer introduced recently by some crazy frenchman  named Marcel Bernard.....a dairy farmer in Brittany...If you don,t believe me just google it...!.Our third week of practice with the fox and we are ready to form lines and hope for an exhibition before our 1st game on oct 15th........And Bill Ardell, one of my star players at SIR GEORGE WILLIAMS in Montreal is on the Island  with SPELLREAD.......Bill and i have met for a pint or two at the local watering hole......Well , i must go now and watch DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES the show everyones talking about!!!! Except cousin Shane who doesn,t own a tv. ????....And if anyone ever sees the Eastern Graphic newspaper check out the picture of cousin Harold ,who writes a column on horseracing......He and Mountainman Jack McAndrew look like twins......And a bit of advice to john "leacky" Blanchard......from an old country song..".Don,t come home from drinkin with lovin on your mind..".In fact! Don,t come home period!!!!...ciao and salut
