Full house at the club today......Guest appearance from THE FIDDLER........Don,t forget MAKING THE CUT is on tonight.....And Shane hadn,t read the latest rendition on the blog .......But Roger wasn,t happy with me .....I,ve been going easy on him lately but when he was born the doctor slapped his mother.....She had to borrow a baby to take to church!!!!His father found out you could raise a child for 100$ in INDIA......So he sent Roger there!!! Shane ,of course came from a very ATHLETIC family....When his uncle was 60 he started jogging ten miles a day......He,s 94 now and no one knows where the hell he is ! His grandfather came to this country and could only speak 3 words of english....Yet he became a really wealthy man....The 3 words were STICK EM UP! And i am looking for some good reading material for those long winter nights....One of the top selling books of all time is VALLEY OF THE DOLLS.......Don,t think i,ll get that.....Roger,s favorite reading is ARCHIE COMICS......He likes VERONICA!!!!

In the words of YOGI BERRA...." if you come to a fork in the road TAKE IT" Did i say that all DVA employees are LAZY and CHEAP.....At least one lady thinks so....AND also that Cousin Shane is ONE OF A KIND???? This all of the coffee crew can attest, is true.....How many people get suspended by the PEI HOCKEY ASSOCIATION.??? No the DVA is probably the top performing government department in CANADA despite the fact that both Shane and Roger work there.....It,s a team effort and the others ,no doubt, make up for the underperformance of these two cowboys.....Just kidding boys!!!!!But ,lets give Shane a break...It,s not easy being HIM!!!! He,s had a hard go.....with this PEI HOCKEY STUFF....He,s a little insecure????maybe?He,s being hassled ...not getting proper SLEEP ......could use a little cash....and better social skills....a few laughs now and then....Basically he can,t figure out how he ended up living the life he,s leading But ,we his true friends accept him for what he is.....A lot better then Roger!!!!And THE MERCHANTMAN PUB.....noone goes there anymore....it,s too crowded!!!!

A Russian Agent was sent on a secret mission to Canada......He was told to rendezvous with GALLANT THE ACADIAN SPY..AND THE SECRET CODE IS " The sun rises slowly over Moscow"....He gets dropped off near the coast of RUSTICO......He spots a fellow up the road from the beach....He says are you GALLANT..?...and the guy says yes but their are lots of GALLANTS in Rustico......Gallant the postman....Gallant the grocer....Gallant the fisherman and so on......The Russian says "THE SUN RISES SLOWLY OVER MOSCOW" and the fellow says ...." Oh you want Gallant THE SPY"!!!!

Making the cut ,a new CBC program featuring hockey playing hopefulls from across canada trying to get a tryout with an NHL team, is a very enjoyable show.......Better then watching a regular season NHL game......Lots of familier faces for me and makes one realize how small the hockey world in canada is.....Now all they need is DON CHERRY making some outragious comments ......Interesting to hear the scouts comments on players......The player from Russia was described as big but doesn,t use his size.....Bet they wouldn,t say that about Mario Lemieux!!!! Also Dan Tessier a great small player from Ottawa always passed over because he,s too small......Hope he gets his chance now....Roger went to Ottawa on business ?...When i asked him what for???? He said" if i tell you i,ll have to kill you.."....So now he,s a spy??????.Checking on favorite songs for the coffee gang.....The CBC picked IMAGINE as the #1 song of the century....Did you know that it was outlawed at BLOOMFIELD HIGH SCHOOL .in 90/91 The principle Adelbert Roche didn,t appreciate the .lyrics......Can you IMAGINE?????And now for cousin Shane and all the consumers of JUNK FOOD here ,once again are the latest SUPERFOODS for HEALTH.......Broccoli.......Blueberries, Flax,...Green tea......Skim milk...Salmon....Soy...Spinich and Tomatoes...Missing from my list are Red wine.and Olive oil..I don,t see Shane,s favorites FRENCH FRIES and PEPSI THERE anywhere..!..No wonder Italians are so healthy....Yes????Did you know when Popeye was created in 1930 SPINICH consumption increased by 33%...But Popeye got it wrong it wasn,t the extra iron in spinich that gave him the great strength.......It was the Folic acid.....And Roger,s favorite song of all time is PEI is HEAVEN TO ME!!!!What a guy!!!!We,re so proud of him........?????.

Coffee Club met this morning and reports were made about wkend activities......Roger didn,t go mountain climbing......Helen is away and he was so busy fending off all those fiesty Rustico maidens he had no time.......Pres Jim spent the wkend performing RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS........Probably as a result of my recommendation on this blog to DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE EVERYDAY......He,s trying to catch up!!! He gave one lady a drive from the cleaners to parkdale ,which was on his way home,......saved her a taxi fare ,but charged her 2 bucks.......Did i say that people that work at the DVA are cheap? NO! But when the waitresses at the MERCHANTMAN see them coming they hide......no tips!!!!I,ve noticed that cousin Shane has a disturbing habit of excessive laughter when he says something remotely funny!! A sure sign of mental deficiency...!!!So prevalent on his side of the family......Talking about ...his side...".BARNEY."...Cousin Andy, showed up today dressed for the beach????SUMMERS OVER.....GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!!!And for my activities i failed to win the yacht club draw two years in a row.....Some other equally deserving chap took home the 10,000 prize......And we survived the weather to play 18 holes in the MERCHANTMAN PUB ANNUAL GOLF EXTRAVAGANZA........Thanks to CAESARS AND OYSTERS on the 3rd and 13th holes.....Later we retired to the exclusive pub for PRIME BEEF ........followed by a KARAOKE fest......No i didn,t sing....Why???? They didn,t have any of my favorites in the machine......Would have liked to give my rendition of STOMPIN TOM,S KETCHUP song .....maybe next time......And who was that lovely chap that sat with us at the culinary today.......He kept giving Roger those come hither looks.......A little light in the loafers......maybe? Roger,i think got his phone number?????

Busy wkend with the shellfish festival .....Merchantman golf tourney.......Yacht club draw for 10,000 .. The one i won last year......Can i do it two years in a row..?....We,ll see!!!....They had a special at the PUB on thur......Buy a molson product and you get a sample plate of mussels.......GREAT.....i had 12 ......just kidding!! I had 2 and gave my 3rd to a hungary friend.....Rodney ..from Rodneys oyster house in TORONTO was shucking oysters all nite ..both thur and fri......I like oysters but they were charging 5.00 for an extra kingsize one so i decided to forego my oyster cravings for the present......Finally got my little antique MGB back in action.....Had to find a distributer from the pres of the PEI BRITISH MOTORCAR CLUB.......Won,t be long now and i,ll have to put it back in winter storage.....Concordia is having a special ceremony for all those who have made the sports hall of fame ......So i,m heading for MONTREAL in oct.....Wonder what DON CHERRY will do without his weekly ego fix on CBC.......He could have his own show like RED GREEN.....Instead of duct tape he could use hockey tape.....Can you believe that the players and owners can,t come to an agreement.......Sounds to me like what happens when lawyers get involved in divorce settlements......In most cases they seem to create more problems which results in increased revenues for guess who???? Hockey has a history of shooting itself in the foot.......Many senior leagues were going great until one or two of the owners got greedy and bought all the best players....In ITALY the same thing is going on where MILAN and ASIAGO the two richest teams dominate and prevent the league from ever being really competitive.........Cousin Shane wouldn,t come to the culinary institute for lunch this week......Too many veggies......Roger ,myself and the Pres went and raved about the meal ...especially the parsnips......Not Shanes favorite food...but for his info ..very good for GALL BLADDER problems i understand.....Roger is still recovering from his MOUNTAIN CLIMBING .....how he does it i don,t know cause he falls off the steps at the DVA on a regular basis.I think one of the PLAYBOY BUNNIES CARRIED HIM. He was singing one of his favorite songs last week......"Your negligee has turned to flannel nightgowns" and the wife has left him and gone to ontario.....I told him he has to come with me to the pub where he might find a little ACADIAN girl ....Maybe next week.......She,ll be back i,m sure !!!!!! Then Roger will be singing another of his classics.." Get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed" ps....Almost forgot to mention that CONCORDIA HOCKEY was represented ...on the bench.....for CANADA AT THE WORLD CUP.....Yes KENNY LOWE ...our former trainer and goaltender was right behind the coaches......Congrats to Ken!!!!

Stay healthy......Thats the message i,m getting from the first ministers meeting on the canadian health care system......Join a gym....eat healthy food...take.vitamins......and try to do something nice for someone every day...The Rustico Runt went MOUNTAIN CLIMBING this past wkend.....Can you believe it????? One for BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!! His group included 6 guys ,2 lesbians,and some PLAYBOY BUNNIES.......Thats what he told us this morning anyway!!!!! The coffee group has formed a LOTTO pool......We all put in five dollars a week to buy tickets.......Roger says if he wins he,s going to have PLASTIC SURGERY......He,ll make his nose bigger ........He won,t say why but i think it,s because AIR IS FREE ! The PEI ROCKET have been on the ISLAND for 2 years and i still don,t see an ISLANDER regular in the lineup.....Guess we have no good young players on PEI?????? .TOMORROW NIGHT IS THE BIG GAME......CANADA VS FINLAND.....The team that scores first usually wins.......Last years NHL PLAYOFFS tampa bay were 14-1 when they scored 1st and CALGARY was 13-1......In the final all 7 games were won by the team that scored first.....Got to go now and do my proprio neuromuscular facilitation stretching exercises to get ready for my next big fight!!!!

We had another great meal at the CULINARY INSTITUTE today.......Cousin Shane even ordered the seafood but ,as usual he didn,t eat the healthy vegs....said he was full from 2 or 3 pepsis..........Thats a great spot to eat in CHARLOTTETOWN ...but don,t tell the other restaurants.....They,ll be upset.....CBC has selected IMAGINE by JOHN LENNON as the top song of the century......Roger is pretty upset that his favorites didn,t make the top 50.......His #1 was GET YOUR TONGUE OUT OF MY MOUTH ( CAUSE I,M KISSING YOU GOODBYE).....It,s a classic at the RUSTICO LIONS CLUB...Myself.....i like WILLY NELSON singing just about anything......Just read an article that young men of today are not wearing athletic supporters in GYM CLASS.......Roger used to wear one but one of his buddies snuck up behind him grapped his strap pulled it back about 700 feet and then let go.......after that Rog sang in a whole differant section of the rustico glee club..Well i better go now got to watch CANADA beat SLOVAKIA in the WORLD CUP SEMI FINAL......See you at Tim,s CIAO

Attended a nice reception at Cousin Coleen,s house last evening.......Her son Randy was home and brought his lady friend Jenn to meet all the relatives....Since Cousin Shane wasn,t in attendance ,i had to make the first OFF COLORED comment to welcome her to the ISLAND.....She wasn,t impressed......A very pretty lady with a personality plus.......Husband Ernie was in a confrontational mood ....no doubt because of his GOLFING experiences that day.......He told his caddy that he,s never played that badly before and the caddy said " I didn,t realize you,ve played before!!!!!He,s a retired banker and you know what they call a banker with half a brain........GIFTED!!!!! Coleen always has great grub at her receptions and i ,as usual ,ate too much.....Played golf today with a former business partner of Athletic Director Ed ENOS...........Ed was the AD at Loyola and Concordia while i was there.....He organized the first coaching trip to Russia in 1974.....and started the Institute of comparitive physical education at Concordia.....amongst other things..!.....He was a unique AD and wrote the book on what is wrong with Athletics at some Canadian Universities.. namely......lack of accountability.....Try to figure that out!!!!!

Another beautiful fall day on THE ISLAND......Sept continues to be one of our best months .....Now,i,ve read recently that the CANADIAN GOVERNMENT spends more money to sponsor 1 SENATOR in OTTAWA then all the carded athletes in CANADA...Don,t even think about THE QUEEN,S REPRESENTATIVE or ANDRE OUELLET,S expense account......Stephen Owen our fed sports minister wants to support more phys ed in the schools......RIGHT....it,s about time!!!! Also we need our UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS to step up to the plate and sponsor better athletic programs....They have the facilities and the potential coaching to accomplish this ......Many years ago when i was part of the first sports group to visit RUSSIA and study their SPORTS SYSTEM ..We learned that every child in elementary school begins a program of GYMNASTICS....At about the age of 12 they are directed into differant sports according to their skills.....and join special sports clubs for each particular sport......Most of the EUROPEAN COUNTRIES follow this program...and in the US you have much more phys ed in the schools leading to UNIVERSITY SCHLORSHIPS etc etc.....So while we are spending money on our ..politicians other countries are reaping the fitness benefits of better phys ed and elite sports programs....Great hockey game last nite between CANADA and RUSSIA.....The way hockey should be played.....and our own BRAD RICHARDS scored .....We,re still looking for a sport for ROGER THE RUNT TO train for the next OLYMPIC GAMES.....But we were treated to a new revelation this week.....Roger went to QUEEN SQUARE SCHOOL in charlottetown.!!!! And we thought he ended his school days when he  was kicked out of grade 6 at the RUSTICO ORPHANAGE...for trying to date the teacher....Apparently QUEEN SQUARE was the only school that would take him in their special ed program ......Now he can come to the annual reunion with all the other reprobates .......Well ,time to go make breakfast for TIA...."..You can get anything you want at ALICE,S restaurant "????? Toulouse Lautrec to you too!!!!

Beautiful weather on PEI today......cool but sunny......seems like september is ,as usual , one of our nicest months on the ISLAND.....Roger ,the rustico Runt.....is thinking of training for the next olympics.....We just can,t decide on which event he,s most qualified for........Maybe they could invent something new.....like syncro hiking....where pairs of light footed guys could hike over a trail hand in hand.....But ,now Roger,s come up with a knee problem.....My advice was to do a lot of squats for his skinny legs.! And the Atlantic university athletic assoc has once again prevented a student athlete from competing.....Darcy Harris was one of the leaders on the UPEI PANTHERS for the last few years and still has another year to get his degree.....But because he played 3 games of pro hockey one season he has used up all his eligibility.......The intent of the rule was to prevent schools from bringing in players ,non students, from pro hockey just to win......In this case Harris is a legitimate student and should have been granted his eligibility.......Universities in CANADA continue to strive to be mediocre .....Thats why all the high school athletes aim for a schlorship to a US school,.and another reason why we don,t do all that well at the summer OLYMPICS... And ,i have to give credit to whomever invented THE MOSQUITO MAGNET.......I bought one and i haven,t had a mosquito around here for months.....Kinda miss the little suckers....NOT!!!! And perhaps the PEI HOCKEY ASSOCIATION is seeing the error of it,s ways.?....SUSPENDING "POOR" COUSIN SHANE and 3 MINOR COACHES who supported him .....All without a hearing....They,ve reinstated the coaches and The PRESIDENT has been talking to SHANE......Could be a solution is in the works.???????
