Welcome to nephew Bryce,s golf acadamy........at Kalowna,s VINTAGE HILLS GOLF CLUB. Here i am in the beautiful  OKANAGAN VALLEY  staying with my aunt paula overlooking the beautiful LAKE KALAMALKA. Took a trip to SPOKANE visit my daughter KLAY........Drove through PENDICTON down past the GRAND COULEE DAM.in WASH STATE.......and my thoughts turned to the RUSTICO RUNT ROGER......as i passed the dam i thought how wonderful it would be to see him walk the plank off the top of the dam....We could video it and play it over and over....ah well just a dream..!!!!My daughter KLAY is getting married to a wonderful guy she met on the internet.......They went to grammer school together in POINTE CLAIRE QUEBEC....As soon as he gets his release from jail the wedding is on........just kidding....but he does hear voices......Nephew Bryce is on cloud 9.......He,s making double the money here and is already a month ahead of the PEI SEASON......I played in the men,s league on wed nite and 102 cowboys enjoyed a great round of golf followed by a UKRANIAN FEAST served by the best looking waitresses in KALOWNA.....Got to go and get a lesson on the sand trap....ciao.

President Jim wasn,t at coffee today.....He had another meeting at work.....Seems that this meeting business is getting out of control at the DVA.....My own experience at CONCORDIA was those that spend a lot of time at meetings don,t get much done......Poor EV TOOMBS ,HIS boston bruins lost in game 7....They say he,s on SUICIDE WATCH at SLEEPY HOLLOW.....My teams both won so i,m still in contention in the playoff pool....Now if toronto can pull it off tonite i,ll be in great shape.....Cousin Shane is sick again.....It,s the old story " if i knew i would live this long i,d have taken better care of myself". Roger returned from BOSTON ....He tried to get into the MARATHON.....They,re still laughing down there.!!! He made a joke today and was the only one laughing.....Isn,t that a sign of mental deficiency????/ Well if ignorance is BLISS , He,s the world,s happiest guy.....Of course we are not surprised since he told us the best 3 years of his school life were in grade 6!!Heard a guy talking on CBC today about people waiting for the ART critics to tell them if a piece of ART is worthwhile.....Reminds me of the MENTALITY i faced when i coached PRO HOCKEY in SLOVENIA.....I replaced my RUSSIAN IMPORTS with CANADIANS in my 2nd season....However the newspapers were controlled by the RUSSIANS.....After every game fans would come to me and say how great the guys played but after the newspaper came out the next day ,negative towards the canucks.,....They changed their minds. Some would avoid me on the street the next day ,and that was after a win ,when the CANADIANS would score most of our goals......Sort of makes you understand DON CHERRY a bit????..On one occasion a sports reporter apologized.to me because he was told,under threat of losing his job ,that he had to write negative articles about the CANADIANS......

Well CANADIENS came back last nite thanks to goaltender Jose. Theodore and Kovalev....RONNIE CAMPBELL will be pleased but he,s still at the bottom of the MERCHANTMAN PUB PLAYOFF POOL. I,m looking good at this point with 41 pts in 2nd spot but NEW JERSEY and TORONTO have to win for me to continue to climb.up the ladder. Article in the GUARDIAN ,our local paper, that "covers the island like the dew " about the HEAD OF MENSA being a local resident.....Pres Jim wants us to take the test to join but it,s going to be tough because most of us have the memory of a GOLDFISH....3 sec. ...We had a special guest at coffee this morning......GEORGE the former mayor of our fair city now hanging out at TIMS....Guests on CBC today talking about all the problems of AIR CANADA......Reminds me of the time AIR CANADA scuttled our chance for a NATIONAL TITLE.......We were left stranded in WINNIPEG after being told that we could get off for a snack.....Apparently the crew changed and even though 2 players and all our gear was on the flight they took off without us.....We ended up spending the day in several airports and finally arriving in EDMONTON at 3am MONTREAL time......We had to play the early game the next day and lost our goaltender and the game to LAURENTIAN a team we had beaten well during the season.....Then to add insult to injury we had to fly to CALGARY to play in the consolation game the next day.....I recall that BOB BERRY was trying to shoot high in the warmup to injure our backup goalie so we could get the spare goaltender that was provided by the host team. Roger won,t wear his SPACECRAFT HAT since i made fun of it last week......He,s very sensitive and i guess i feel bad that i mentioned it.....I,ll try to find him a nice one at FROGGIES..... And my homemakers tip for the wkend is ...RUBBER BANDS last longer in the fridge """" Don,t say you knew this already.....Now go for it!!!!!

It,s getting tough to cheer for the CANADIANS.....1st The fans booing the US NATIONAL ANTHEM ,then RABIRO,S act rolling around the ice and then last nites extravaganza.....They invented new ways to lose a game .....KOVALEV,S shaking his hand after a minor stick on the glove and running into a teammate gave BOSTON a breakaway and the winning goal............And with 31sec to go in regulation, where was YANIC PERRAULT ? the best faceoff man on the team. On the bench!!!!!....And i,ve got two of them on my pool team......good luck!!!!Roger has reached a new low.....Making disparaging remarks about my beautiful purebread COLLIE,LAB TIA......He calls her KIA to show you how out to lunch he is.He said she was overfed and underexercised......Thats coming from a guy that looks like he,s on a daypass from the HENNESSEY,CUTCLIFFE,CH,TOWN FUNERAL HOME.He also threatened to tell wife HELEN that i said she was a BIG BAG......I only reported what roger said to me.....Pres. Jim read that the head of MENSA is from PEI so we,ll invite him to one of our meetings.....Cousin Shane has been coughing for 2 weeks so we are all wearing masks at coffee......Makes it tough to drink the coffee though. Talking about Roger,s wife HELEN last week she said to him " i had to marry you to find out how stupid you are.....Roger,s answer was "you should have known that the minute i asked YOU!!!!! Pretty good comeback for the little cowboy....

Roger,s back from OTTAWA and his EASTER BREAK and i presented him with a special gift at our regular meeting.....A painting of him covered in blood with his boxing gloves on......Just wanted him to get a preview of how he might look after our match.......He says he trained all wkend by hitting the BIG BAG...HELEN......his wife......not nice and he better hope she doesn,t read this blog......Cousin Shane has been coughing for the past two weeks.....But he still hasn,t given up cigerettes???? He says it,s from drinking MILK.!!!!! I told him to take a large dose of LAXATIVE.....then he,ll be afraid to cough.....How about the act MIKE REBIRO put on rolling around on the ice faking injury then laughing at the BRUINS bench....You can be sure he,ll pay for that.......Over the years i,ve had a few players who have overacted when injured......Usually it didn,t last long because they wouldn,t be on the ice long if i saw it repeated......Two players who were the opposite and played despite being injured were MARK SHEWCHUK and FRANK MORRIS....In fact i was luckey to have most of our players with great attitude towards injuries.......And some good trainers like KEN LOWE and RON REPPEL who made sure the players didn,t use injuries to get away with practice.....And the PEI ROCKETS are eliminated ....As i predicted the MONCTON GOALTENDER was the differance......And the same thing is happening to OTTAWA.......Switch GOALERS last nite and OTTAWA would have won......When i picked MONTREAL over the BRUINS i forgot about the BRUINS rookie goalie.....He may be the differance in the series........We,ll see...

It,s Easter and believe it or not Paully went golfing yesterday.....Yes the polish prince Peter and i went to FRENCH RIVER,,,not too far from Rustico the home of "The man from glad Roger.".....It was a great day,not too crowded and we played 12 holes.....a little snow in parts but pretty good for this time of year.....It,s the earliest i,ve ever played and i hit the ball pretty good except when i hit that guy coming up the other fairway.Have to get my handicap down this summer....My home course STANHOPE won,t be open for at least 2 weeks but i hope to be getting some lessons in BC with nephew Bryce before then...Saw a great program on our local CBC SNOOZE SHOW a few nights ago.....A young lady from MONTAGUE, i forget the name, has a fitness program for young girls ....This is exactly what the schools should be running.....I must find out more!!!1 And the playoffs are on ...I,ve got NEW JERSEY against DETROIT in the final.....but picked TORONTO and MONTREAL in the 1st round. Doesn,t look good at this moment !....Goaltending IS THE KEY and we,ll see what happens. Goaltending is the main reason why the local ROCKETS are losing to MONCTON.....The other nite i watched 2 games and a movie" North by Northwest" ,a classic i taped, at the same time .!...Only a few can accomplish this feat.??..Desired by many acquired by only a few MEN.......The invention of the REMOTE is probably the greatest thing for relationships .?.......OR NOT!!!!!

Inspector Clouseau " ROGER" is still in OTTAWA ......no doubt getting to the bottom of the SPONSORSHIP scandal....Maybe he,s trying to get the 500,000 that GEORGE RAWANSKI didn,t pay in taxes to help the poor widows of our veterans not allocated funds for upkeep of their homes. Maybe i,ll have a surprise for the little guy when he returns ........Actions speak louder than words and the present government,s actions are not exactly living up to the words of the  prime minister.....Have you heard the latest .......our government gives 65.4 million a year to china......That country has the largest army in the world and spends BILLIONS on their military.....June 6th 1944 D-DAY when 14000 canadians stormed JUNO BEACH and advanced further inland and achieved more than any other allied force......Actually 14000 made it any many others were killed.......But you,ve probably not heard much about it because our schools ignore a lot of our own canadian history......I heard from DON MORRIS former ALL CANADIAN DEFENSEMAN at concordia that the 75/76 STINGER TEAM that holds the record for MOST WINS IN A SEASON IN THE CIA won,t be inducted to the HALL OF FAME......Too bad but wait til next year!!!!Guess we can,t have a HOCKEY TEAM inducted every year!!!

Congratulations to Gil Collins who will be inducted into the UPEI SPORTS HALL OF FAME tomorrow night.He was the first quarterback of the first canadian football team at ST DUNSTANS.....and he also was an unofficial ass,t coach since AJ McADAM had no previous experience with FOOTBALL. Also BOB PHILIP my former ass,t coach at CONCORDIA will be elected to the CONCORDIA HALL OF FAME.....He,s now the AD at UBC......Glad to see BOBBY CLARK agrees that hitting should be restricted until players reach JUNIOR AGE......This is something i,ve been saying since i spent the weekend watching PEE WEE hockey......Body checking hinders skill development ,causes increased injury to young players. Results in a lot of smaller players dropping out......but it may improve THE SLAPPER.??? Why is it that average sized EUROPEAN PLAYERS are replacing the NORTH AMERICAN trained player????The emphasis on hitting is a big factor.....Roger was sent on a secret mission to OTTAWA.......We,ll look into it when he returns.....Pres Jim has finally listened to my requests and established a few rules of order for our meetings......No cell phone calls and a DRESS CODE......The latter was directed towards Cousin Andy who came dressed like BARNEY yesterday...Also, perhaps Roger,s HAT.......For those who have not had the experience of viewing this cranial covering ...it looks like a space craft that was in a head on collision....Cousin Shane is sick again so i had to advise him on some essential herbs for his health......1/ bilberry juice for his eyes 2/ celery seed for his GOUT 3/ ecinacha for his cold 4/garlic for his blood pressure 5/ hawthorn for his heart 6/ milk thistle for his liver and 7/ saw palmetto for his prostrate.......Start now and come and see me in the fall !!!!!1

Special guest appearance at our regular meeting this morning...Joel Cormier ,candidate for COACH OF THE YEAR for leading his young POWNEL MIDGETS to ISLAND and ATLANTIC CROWNS enjoyed a Free TIM HORTONS coffee and the company of some fine LIARS ......Also EV TOOMBS was present and he has just been chosin by the inmates at SLEEPY HOLLOW as the trainer closest to their hearts....As a special treat ,i gave a repeat performance of the famous poem THE JABBERWOCKEY.....Everyone ,with the possible exception of ROGER THE RABBIT was impressed  .Pres Jim turned RED as a beet !!!!...,I noticed a lot of folks got up and left.....Cost me 11cents this morning to buy Pres Jim,s cup......came up another dud.....oh well ,try again......Roger was busy this wkend in RUSTICO.....Seems they honored NAPOLEON for his contribution to the community.....He was so tired from the festivities he was sleeping at his desk . When his supervisor saw him Roger said ,"Thankyou Jesus Amen". I told him i could find him a better hat at FROGGIES....but he seems to think this one is becoming....I say Becoming worn out".What a great year for ISLAND HOCKEY SQUADS.....Now the CORNWALL THUNDER have won the ATLANTIC CROWN.....Congrats to two more great young coaches KENNY Mac DOUGALL and PAUL MURNAGHAN....Get this.... Cousin Shane has been sanctioned by the PEI HOCKEY ASSOCIATION......He may not be able to volunteer until sept.????Tonight is the annual MERCHANTMAN PUB NHL PLAYOFF DRAFT so we,ll be busy ......Actually,it,s better if you don,t know anything about hockey ......I must ask Roger if he,s busy?

A beautiful day on the island today and the snow keeps melting.....If this keeps up we,ll be on the golf course before june...just kidding!!! Some green grass showing at stanhope and TIA the wonder dog can,t wait to fertilize it......Cousin shane had to go to FREDERICTON to bail his son out......seems he takes after the old man. The not quite over the hill club had a lunch meeting and President Jim was to give a speech......However he forgot what he was going to say......He says he,s forgetting a lot lately and doesn,t know if he,s losing his memory or just not listening....I suggested the latter since he does spend a lot of time with Roger.......So i had to do the honors and gave ,i think ,a rather entertaining rendition of the poem THE JABBERWOCK by lewis carrol......The only poem i can remember from FATHER BUBBLES ARSENAULT,S ENGLISH CLASS. I wouldn,t say the meal was bad but,.I made sure that we got the name of the main course in case they ask us when we get to the hospital....The MILAN VIPERS have won the ITALIAN PRO LEAGUE again this year......I guess they won,t be phoning me to come back next year....Read an interesting article by KEN DRYDEN .....He suggests that one of the key reasons for the increase of violance in the NHL is the emphasis ,by coaches ,on players finishing the check........I did see a lot of that at the recent PEE WEE tourney and i would have to agree that,especially at that level ,they should restrict the hitting after the player has passed the puck......Just a final note for Roger to mull over this wkend....." LITTLE IS NEEDED TO MAKE A WISE MAN HAPPY BUT NOTHING CAN CONTENT A FOOL"

Nephew Bryce has arrived in KALOWNA and starts work at the VINTAGE HILLS GOLF CLUB today.....I,ll give him a few days to get settled before i call to setup my trip.....Reminds me of my great cross canada drive in my little MGB in 69.....I left montreal to attend graduate school in OREGON.It was a memorable drive and made one realize how large canada really is..... I had a wonderful year and was driving back with a new wife and a car full of wedding gifts....Not the MGB ,i had to trade that for a larger model.....We decided to spend our HONEYMOON at THE BANFF SPRINGS HOTEL...The first day we were there i met SCOTTY BOWMAN who was coaching the ST LOUIS BLUES .He was on his honeymoon also and we decided to meet that evening for a few drinks.....Well needless to say we talked hockey for most of the evening and the women left early. Scotty talked about his two goalies GLEN HALL AND JACQUES PLANTE....Apparently on one occasion just before a tough roadtrip JACQUES came up with a knee injury......The team left him at the rink getting some therapy .....The bus was delayed and the players spotted PLANTE running across the parking lot to his car....I guess Scotty had to restrain the PLAGER BOYS from killing him.....Read today that the granddaughter of PHIL WHIMMER was on canada,s womens national team. She wasn,t aware that phil gave SCOTTY his first job coaching the JUNIOR CANADIANS....I remember PHIL telling me about how they checked on the players when he was the GM of the juniors.....He and Scotty would search all the players rooms when the team was eating during the roadtrips....If they found anything questionable that player wouldn,t be around very long...Roger wants me to design a weighttraining program for him.....He wants to prepare to challange me to a boxing match......I told him to start by helping his poor wife carry the RECYCLABLES up from the basement.....He says those bluebags full of papers can get pretty heavy.after a month. Roger says there,s nothing he wouldn,t do for her....and nothing she wouldn,t do for him. In fact, they,re devoted to doing nothing for each other...
